Baseless speculation about Shadowline’s REBEL BLOODBy Andrew Leslie

Riley Rossmo of Green Wake has been teasing his next comic on his twitter lately and the Freakin’ Awesome Network wanted to take a moment to speculate on and appreciate Rossmo’s upcoming project.
For those of you not in-the-know about Riley Rossmo, he’s the artist behind indie-comic standout series like PROOF, COWBOY NINJA VIKING and Shadowline’s current hit GREEN WAKE. Rossmo’s style is distinctive as hell and his art is a personal favorite. Once you see it, it cannot be unseen! The connotative powers of Rossmo’s work is unparalleled as everything he draws is able to evoke a very distinctive mood from the viewer. Hopefully that ability will transfer well into Rossmo’s writing as he will be co-authoring REBEL BLOOD, his next project, a mini-series set for early next year.
REBEL BLOOD’s tagline is A Zombie Story Like No Other and the two completed pieces he’s released so far have been captioned with: “It’s all just meat in the end” and “It’s never too late to prey!” Judging from the art he’s done so far, it looks like REBEL BLOOD may be about what would happen if a strain of the zombie virus were to infect animals. The pitch to a movie producer would sound something like: “THE BIRDS meets 28 DAYS LATER!”
That’s just speculation based off a couple of chillingly awesome pieces of art, but whatever the comic is about, it’s going to look terrific with Rossmo on art. Image’s Shadowline brand has been crushing it lately with a bevy of new releases that are top-drawer comics: Green Wake, Twenty-Seven, Xenoholics and the upcoming Peter Panzerfaust (written by Green Wake writer Kurtis Wiebe). Those along with the cult hit Bomb Queen, the critically acclaimed hit Morning Glories (by Nick Spencer) and their online comics ( indie-hit Lil’ Depressed Boy) means that Shadowline is an unstoppable hit-making machine.
